PCR (Post Consumer Recycled)

The long-awaited proposal of the Regulation on “packaging and packaging waste” of 30 November 2022 has envisaged a scenario of important innovations on the subject of reuse. In fact, some proposals in the Regulation lead to a high impact in the world of single-use plastic packaging.

The European Commission (EC) published a proposal for a Green Claims Directive on 22 March 2023; This proposal lays down minimum requirements on the substantiation and reporting of voluntary environmental claims and environmental labelling in business-to-consumer (B2C) practices.

Among the main objectives of this Directive, there are the increase of the level of environmental protection and consumer awareness by helping to accelerate the green transition towards a circular, clean and climate-neutral economy in the EU.

Precisely on the basis of the proposed Green Claim Directive, which specifies the need to verify and certify the Claims used on the products marketed (which also includes the REUSABLE mark on packaging), it is necessary to follow in the case of the products in question the criteria required by the UNI EN 13429: 2005 standard for the REUSE of PACKAGING.
